Ingredients for making batter:
1. Soaked rice - half kg
2. Cooked rice - 1 cup
3. Black gram / urad dal - 100gm
4. Salt - as required
5. Water - as required

Steps of making batter:
1. In a large vessel soak half kg rice, one cup of cooked rice and 100gm of urad dal for at least 5 hours.
2. Next in a big jar add soak rice, cook rice, urad dal and one spoon of salt and grind till its smooth.
3. Take this ground mixture in a vessel and add water as required to the batter and leave it for overnight.
4. Next whenever you use the batter to cook before one hour adds the soda and use after one hour for cooking. so the batter raises.
Steps of making idli:
1. First, apply oil to the idli plates and then add the batter to fill the plates.
2. Stem water in the idli cooker for 10 minutes when the water is boiling then put idli plates in it and cook for 15 minutes.
3. When the idli is cook switch off the gas and lets it cool for 5 minutes then take out the idli with help of a spoon and serve.
4. Serve hot idli with coconut chutney or sambar.
