Borek is a popular Turkish baked pastry. Borek is a popular dish from Ottoman cuisine. Borek is made from a very thin sheet called yufka or phyllo. Borek is also called as burek. Borek is made in different ways in a different culture. In this, I have shared the borek recipe made with ground meat and boiled potato-filled in a very thin sheet called phyllo. Borek pastry is traditionally made in oven but in this, I have shared borek recipe without oven. Borek recipe with step by step photo and video.

Turkish Borek Recipe:

Ingredients for making filling for borek:
1. Onion - 1 cup finely chopped
2. Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
3. Garlic - 1 spoon finely chopped
4. Minced meat - 1 cup
5. Potato - 3 boiled and mashed
6. Chilli powder - 1 tsp
7. Salt - to taste
8. Coriander leaves

1. Egg - one
2. Oil - 2 tsp
3. Milk - 2 tsp
4. Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
5. Phyllo sheets - 4


Turkish Borek Recipe:

Steps of making filling for borek:
1. Heat a pan on medium-high flame add oil, finely chopped garlic, white sesame seeds and one cup onion finely chopped and cook till Onion become translucent.

2. Next, add minced meat in it and cook till it leaves all its water and turns brown.

3. Then add chilli powder and salt to taste and mix well. Then add potato boiled and mashed and mix it well cook till the meat is done.

4. Further, add finely chopped coriander leaves and gently mix all the mixture. Switch off the gas and let it cool, keep aside.



Steps of making borek:
1. First in a bowl add one egg, 2 tsp milk and 2 tsp of oil and mix it well and keep aside. This will be used to seal the phyllo sheets by evenly spreading it on sheets.

2. Take the thin rolled phyllo sheet and apply the egg mixture prepared evenly and add the filling in line and roll it out as shown in the below photo.

3. Fill and roll all phyllo sheets. Then apply oil to the pan and transfer this rolls on a pan as shown in the below photo.

4. Cook it on gas on medium-high flame for 10 to 15 from one side and apply egg mixture on top and add sesame seeds evenly.

5. Then turn it to another side and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. When it is cooked take it out in a plate and cut it In pieces how many u want and serve hot.

6. Turkish borek all way from turkey to your home with so much of love is ready to eat.



Borek in the oven:
Cook borek in the oven preheated on 200°C for 30 to 40 minutes. When it is cook serve it hot and enjoy.
